Allow cookies?

 

To provide a discussion forum for this site, a 3rd party discussion forum software package has been implemented called Toast Forums.  In order for Toast Forums to function correctly you’ll need to turn on “cookies” with your internet brower whilst using the discussion forum.  For security reasons you may wish to turn cookies back off after leaving this site. 

 

A breif explanation of cookies and how to turn them on and off within your browser follows.  This information is offered only as a guide.

The following is the Microsoft explanation from the Help screen in IE6:

Understanding cookies

Some Web sites store information in a small text file on your computer. This file is called a cookie.

There are several types of cookies, and you can choose whether to allow some, none, or all of them to be saved on your computer. If you do not allow cookies at all, you may not be able to view some Web sites or take advantage of customization features.

 

Turning Cookies On and Off

 

Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.X

 

Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.X

 

Microsoft Internet Explorer  6:

·         Go to Tool menu

·         Go to Privacy tab

·         Click Advanced Button

·         There needs to be a checkmark for OVERWRITE AUTOMATIC COOKIE HANDLING and ALWAYS ALLOW SESSION COOKIES.

 

IE 6 also allows you to turn on cookies for a specific site only.  You may prefer to use this method.

 

Microsoft Internet Explorer  6: Adding a specific site

·         Click on the Tools button on the Internet Explorer tool bar

·         Highlight and click on Internet options at the bottom of the Tools menu

·         Select the Privacy Tab of the Internet Options menu

·         Under the websites section click the Edit... button

·         In the text box labeled "address of web site", enter in the URL from which you want to block cookies

·         Click the Allow button

·         You will now see that site under the "Managed Web Sites" list.
Click OK
