when did you begin triathlon and why?

1995 after too many injuries training for marathons. Unfortunately nothing's changed.
how many years in NTC? 7.
what is your sporting background? Soccer & athletics until 14. Then from 19-30 footy, cricket, drinking & smoking. Back to running at 30
how many triathlons? Have completed about 50 including 2 half Ironman & 2 Ironman.
greatest achievement in triathlon First Ironman 10.50 in 2001. Getting through the swim (750m) in my second ever race, after nearly drowning in the swim (300m) in my first.
greatest achievement outside of triathlon My family (sad isn't it!)
best result? First IM, 10.50 at 41 years of age with limited running in an injured lead up.
best and worst triathlon legs and why? Run - cos I can (or could), Swim - cos I can't, and never will be able to.
most embarrassing moment in triathlon? Rescued by the surf ski and rubber ducky half way through the swim in an Adelaide race (in a lake). Still hungover from two days before
three people you would like to invite to dinner Billy Connolly for the laughs, Halle Berry for the looks, & Captain Ironman to clean up and wash the dishes.
favourite music Don't have a favourite, but pretty keen on Jet at the moment, and always fire up to "Generator." It's on the race video for my first IM. Brings back memories.
favourite film Have enjoyed the Untouchables 5 times
favourite t.v. show Very sad, but keen on Parky (depending on guests), most sports, and embarrassed to admit Big Brother has got me in this time (never watch any other reality show)
favourite triathlon distance Ironman when in shape
favourite race Australian Ironman, Forster -unbelievable atmosphere.
favourite food Any pasta with a hot puttanesca sauce (chilli, capers, anchovies, etc - hot & salty!)
favourite drink Beer and a good red (or 5)
triathlon goals Return to Forster
passions outside traithlon My kid's sport - footy, cricket, netball, tennis..............
describe yourself in 5 words ot less Impulsive, reliable, injury-prone (the captain will tell you its because of my impulsive training habits - he's propbably right), tired, easy-going.
